Gunsmiths maintain, repair, and modify guns according th the requirements of their customers. A gunsmith must be able to diassemble a gun and put it back together, and must also be comfortable of using a veriety of hand tools and machine tools, such as planers and milling machines) for doing highly refined work. Gunsmithing can include installing sites, hand grips, recoil pads, or decorative pieces. The gunsmith may also rebore a barrel, cut rifling in a barrel, install choke device on shotguns, and more.
Gunsmith school provides training in the operation and use of firearms, and the use of the handtools and machine tools needed to perform a wide range of gun repairs and modifications. In addition, the student learns how to perform highly precision work with these tools, as their success and reputation will be determined the accuracy and precision of their work.
