CNC (computer numerically controlled) machines are often used for the rapid prototyping of parts or the development of mechanical components in low volume. CNC machines are often used to build parts that are used to setup (tool) a high volume production line. A CNC machine allows very precise, highly repeatable milling and machining instructions that are programmed into the CNC machine much like a computer program.
