The Suburban Technical School (Suburban Tech) is a school of over 200 students located in Hempstead, New York. Hempstead is located on Long Island, approximately 40 minutes east of New York City. A suburban location such as Hempstead is a nice compromise for an individual who wants easy access to all that a large city has to offer, without having to deal with the congestion of a large city. Hempstead provides easy access to New York City, a center of art, communication, culture, design, entertainment, fine dining, history, government, nightlife, and industry.

The Suburban Technical School is part of the Premier Education Group. The Premier Education Group has five locations of the Branford Hall Career Institute in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York; five locations of the Salter School in Massachusetts; and two locations of the Seacoast Career Schools in Maine and New Hampshire.

The mission of the Suburban Technical School is to provide an educational environment characterized by high expectations and staffed by individuals who are compassionate, supportive, creative, and effective. The Suburban Technical School believes that students should be given the opportunity to receive a high quality education to prepare for the career that is best suited to their ability, interests, and ambition.

The Suburban Technical School has a 19,000 square foot campus facility in Hempstead that consists of medical labs, computer labs, a library, lecture rooms, and a student lounge.

The Suburban Technical School offers a program of study in medical assisting. In this program, students will spend 30% of their time in a lab environment gaining hands-on experience. The program is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position as a Medical Assistant in a physician’s office, medical clinic, or other related facility.

The Suburban Technical School's medical assisting program can be completed in less than a year, allowing students to embark on a new career quickly. The program also provides an internship. Internships give students an opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience. Prospective employers place a premium on graduates with real-world experience.

The Suburban Technical School makes it easy for working adults, individuals who already have substantial work and life responsibilities, to obtain an education. Suburban Tech. offers courses days and evenings. The flexibility of offering courses days and evenings makes it much easier for individuals to obtain the education they need to start a new career or further an existing career.

The Suburban Technical School takes career placement for its students very seriously. Suburban Tech. graduate services representatives will help students to make appointments with prospective employers and give coaching on resume preparation, interview skills, and job search tactics. Additional services offered to students and alumni include: refresher sessions available in courses previously taken at no additional charge, auditing classes, and use of the lab facilities and resource centers.

Enrollment to the Suburban Technical School is a simple process. Applicants must possess a high school degree or GED equivalent, and must pass the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) test.

The Suburban Technical School has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans).

The Suburban Technical School is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). ACCSCT is officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a national accreditation agency.
