The National Holistic Institute, or NHI is a massage therapy school with its primary campus in Emeryville, California. Emeryville is a suburb located in the San Francisco Bay area, approximately 10 minutes north of Oakland. A suburban location such as Emeryville is a nice compromise for an individual who wants easy access to all that a large city has to offer, without having to deal with the congestion of a large city. Emeryville provides easy access to Oakland and San Francisco, both centers of culture, art, communication, entertainment, industry, and nightlife.
The National Holistic Institute has also recently opened new campuses in San Jose and in Petaluma in Sonoma County, in the heart of Sonoma wine country.
The National Holistic Institute offers a massage therapist program that has been designed to give students a comprehensive system of knowledge so that they can have the kind of success that massage therapists with full professional training deserve. The program not only gives students the skills and knowledge they need, but it also prepares them for the national certification exam. The program provides three areas of training:
- Massage Theory and Practice
- Career Development
- Hands-on Practical Experience
An NHI education in massage therapy is very complete, covering all aspects of the massage therapy industry. The program can also be completed in as little as 12 months.
NHI offers students two ways to gain valuable, hands-on, real-world experience. Students obtain practical experience through NHI's Student Clinic, and through externships.
The National Holistic Institute makes it easy for working adults, individuals who already have substantial work and life responsibilities, to obtain an education. NHI offers a wide variety of class schedules that are designed to fit a student's unique requirements, including daytime, evening and weekend schedules. The National Holistic Institute is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). The ACCET is a national accreditation agency that is recognized by the United States Department of Education. NHI was the first accredited massage therapy school in California. NHI is also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) Council of Schools.
