LeTourneau University's Teacher Education Program (TEACH) meets the needs of P-12 paraprofessionals who wish to gain full Texas teacher certification as required by the No Child Left Behind legislation. No Child Left Behind requires these workers to have at least two years of college resulting in an associate's degree or passage of a college-level proficiency exit exam. The program is offered through the University's School of Graduate and Professional Studies and the School of Education.. Students in the TEACH program have a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of P-12 students while also fulfilling the requirements for becoming a certified teacher in Texas.
Students at the LeTourneau University Teacher Education Program graduate prepared to become caring, positive, Christian teachers. Students come away with a thorough knowledge of teaching through field and student teaching experiences. They undergo professional development that prepares them to become certified teachers by passing State teaching tests. Whether students have some college credit already, or no college credit at all, LeTourneau's TEACH program can help them make their dreams of becoming a teacher a reality.
The TEACH program offers a number of convenient formats that allow busy, working adults to complete courses while still maintaining their current work and family commitments. The curriculum is accelerated and offered at Educational Centers and Sites throughout the state of Texas, as well as Saturday workshops and online formats. Individualized attention is assured because class sizes are small, averaging 16 to 22 students. The faculty are experienced and have the highest academic credentials. And LeTourneau University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, and master's degrees.
LeTourneau University brings together a unique blend of learning, living, and Christian leadership within a setting that inspires academic excellence, personal integrity, and technological innovation. The main campus is located in Longview, Texas just two hours east of Dallas, and features "hands-on", Christian-centered learning. More than 3,700 students from every State and 25 foreign countries attend LeTourneau. The College has been consistently ranked as one of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report.
