The College is excited to share with students the innovative culinary environment that they have created, a dynamic place in which students develop basic cooking skills as well as the tools to invent new, original recipes that they can call their own. In addition, students come away from the program with vital business skills that they will need in order to be successful in this highly competitive industry. Programs cover many areas, from basic skills to butchering to purchasing to cost control, and when students graduate, they receive an Associate of Applied Science and the coveted Le Cordon Bleu Diploma.
Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Program at Brown College supports students in achieving their career goals. The programs are designed to make sure students graduate with not only culinary skills, but also a more generalized education that broadens their awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and values, all traits that give them a considerable edge on their competition in the job market. All programs incorporate a six-week internship during which students can test and refine their knowledge and skills in a real-world environment. All classes are taught by professional chefs who can provide the insight and real-world experience that students crave. The College strives to achieve an environment that is rich in professionalism, mutual respect, and ambition. Class sizes are limited and, as a result, creative expression is fostered and each student receives personalized attention from their instructors.
Programs at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Program at Brown College are designed to give students hands-on education in an interactive atmosphere. Classes are enhanced by experienced professional instructors who facilitate stimulating exchanges of ideas. All classrooms and labs are outfitted with the most industry-current equipment that mirror the work world and give students the experience they need in order to be successful. Brown College is accredited through the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and the Culinary Arts program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Institute (ACFEI).
The Twin Cities are a great place for students to call home during and after their studies at Brown College. The Cities are home to 19 Fortune 500 companies, some of which are connected via downtown Minneapolis' skyway system, to hotels, restaurants and the Convention Center. Outdoor activities are abundant and, with over 929 lakes in the Twin Cities, the area was nominated bay Runner's World as the 2nd best urban running area. The culinary scene is alive and vibrant, with a wide variety of fine dining restaurants and ethnic fair flourishing. The Twin Cities also have a number of cultural institutions, including the Fitzgerald Theater, Guthrie Theater, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the American Swedish Institute. The cities have more theater seats per capita than any other U.S. city, besides New York, and they have sports teams galore, including the Wolves, Wilds, Twins, and Vikings.
