Jones International University offers students the opportunity to earn a masters degree while they work. Students receive high-quality academic training in an interactive learning environment that prepares them for a professional career. From the moment students are accepted at JIU, they are part of an intimate learning community and receive individual attention and help from JIU faculty and staff. All educational needs are provided online; all students need are a computer, Internet access, a Web browser, and the drive to learn. Students learn skills that they can immediately apply in their jobs. And JIU's faculty are hand-picked from leading U.S. and international universities.
Since 1987, the Jones companies have been working toward the goal of making education available to everyone, everywhere. In 1993, Glenn R. Jones founded Jones International University, the first university to exist entirely online, and in 1999, JIU became the first fully online university to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Most students at JIU continue their career while studying online, something not easily accomplished at traditional campus-based institutions.
Being a student at JIU is in some ways similar to being a student in a classroom. However, many JIU graduates report feeling closer to their classmates and teachers at JIU than they did in a classroom setting. Students stay in constant contact with their peers and faculty through assigned readings, class discussion, faculty feedback, group projects, case studies, research, and writing assignments. Class size is limited to 25 students so faculty can get to know their students on an individual basis. Students are also provided with various support services, including Enrollment Counselors, a Student Services Center, an Academic Chair of each degree program, Technical Support 24/7, and an online library featuring first-class research tools and staffed by professional librarians.
