The Harris School was founded in 1965. It is a school of approximately 200 students located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Cherry Hill is approximately a 15 minute drive east of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Harris School is a private, post-secondary school that offers students an opportunity to pursue practical career education in the business, legal, and allied health fields, with emphasis on administrative office support careers.
The New Jersey Department of labor has recognized the excellence of programs at the Harris School in the past with he following awards: "Training Institution of the Year," Camden County Workforce Development Program; "Training Institution of the Year," Gloucester County Workforce Development Program; and a "Commissioner's Citation".
The mission of the Harris School is to provide students with quality post-secondary training so that they may have the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain administrative support positions leading to a successful career in the business and/or professional world.
The Harris School offers five programs of study, including:
- Professional Medical Assistant
- Microsoft Office Applications Professional
- Computerized Accounting Technology
- Legal Office Technology
- Health Information Technology
- Massage Therapy
All programs at the Harris School are compact and intensive. Some programs can be completed in as little as 4 months.
The Harris School makes it easy for working adults, individuals who already have substantial work and life responsibilities, to obtain an education. Classes are offered both days and evenings. The convenience of day and evening courses makes it easy for individuals to obtain the education necessary to start a new career or to further an existing career.
All graduates of the Harris School in good financial standing are entitled to placement assistance upon completion of their programs. Placement services provided include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance in preparing a professional resume
- Instruction in techniques of interviewing and conducting an active job search
- Assistance with completing applications and employment forms
- Assistance making contacts with employers to identify job openings
- Marketing student's resumes on their behalf and endeavoring to promote job interviews with prospective employers
- Assisting students by faxing their resumes and providing references, when needed, to employers
- Follow-up and documentation of interviews, job search activity, job placement and retention
The Harris School has reported placement rates as high as 92.4%.
Admissions at the Harris School is a simple process. The standard requirement for admission is a high school diploma or its equivalent. Prospective applicants for admission must:
- Complete a personal interview with an Admissions Representative
- Pass an entrance test required of all applicants
- Receive written acceptance into school by the Director or his designee
- Sign a statement attesting to the fact that he or she possesses a high school diploma or recognized equivalent
- Complete an enrollment agreement, accompanied by a non-refundable $25 application fee
