Grand Canyon University Online is part of Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix, Arizona. Grand Canyon University is a liberal arts school that was founded in 1949 and first made its reputation as a premier teacher education college. It has since added exceptional programs in the arts, business, Christian studies, music, nursing, and sciences.

Grand Canyon University Online offers the same high-quality education online as it does in its Phoenix campus setting. The online degree programs are delivered using state-of-the-art Internet technologies based on Angel technology. The online environment maximizes flexibility and ease, allowing students to "attend" classes at a pace and time that fits their busy schedule. Courses are also offered continuously, year-round. This ease and flexibility can allow a student to complete a degree program online in as little as 18 months. Because GCU Online allows the transfer of credits from other institutions, it is possible to complete a GCU Online degree program in less than 18 months.

Students attending Grand Canyon University Online do not give up any of the other valuable learning interactions of more traditional approaches. Entering GCU Online, students are assigned to a virtual instructor and online community of fellow students allowing for group participation on projects, and peer discussion and review. This "cohort-based" learning model allows a student to progress together with other students allowing them to develop lasting relationships, and receive support and encouragement.

Grand Canyon University Online has one of the lowest tuition costs of any online school for both its Bachelor's and Master's programs. GCU also offers many convenient payment options including the ability to pay monthly. Financial aid and scholarships are available to qualifying students. GCU has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). In addition, qualifying veterans may use Department of Veterans Affairs education benefit programs to pay for their tuition at GCU. GCU can provide assistance to help complete all of the paperwork necessary to certify enrollment and changes in enrollment for students eligible for VA benefits.

Grand Canyon University is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. In addition, Grand Canyon's Ken Blanchard College of Business is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting, business administration, and marketing, as well as an MBA. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is accredited by both the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The Arizona State Department of Education has also given approval to Grand Canyon University's programs for the certification of elementary and secondary school teachers for the renewal of their certificates.
