Florida Career College offers programs that match student skills with the employment demands of the computer industry and business sectors. The College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas and Associate of Science degrees. The College first began classes in 1982 in Miami, Florida and in 1999, the School became a Microsoft IT Academy. It opened its Pembroke Pines campus in 2000 and its West Palm Beach campus in September of 2002. Also in 2002, the College was awarded collegiate status by the Florida Commission for Independent Education.
All campuses at Florida Career College are located near expressways, shopping malls, and restaurants for student convenience. They feature large, comfortable classrooms, computer labs with PC and Mac computers, Medical Labs, bookstores, and a resource center that offers students reference materials such as books, videos, and periodicals that supplement classes and lectures. Each Florida Career College campus also has student services, financial services, and a career center. The admissions process starts with an interview on campus with an admissions representative, during which the representative helps evaluate the applicant's goals. Applicants decide whether the programs are right for them and, if they wish to proceed, they will need to provide proof of high school graduation or the equivalent.
Florida Career College is committed to making sure every student finds a way to pay for college. The financial services staff in the Financial Services Office is available to all current and prospective students. In order to apply for financial aid through the College, students must provide an application for Federal Student Aid; a list of schools previously attended after high school; documentation of citizenship status; completed loan applications; and personal references with a valid address and phone number. In order to qualify for an award, a student must be admitted to and enrolled in Florida Career College.
Florida Career College emphasizes the need to help graduates find the right jobs after graduation. That's why they offer job placement and career development services through the Career Center. The staff at the Career Center help students find career opportunities and start helping them with job searching long before they graduate. The staff help students create professional resumes and hone their interviewing skills.
The staff also maintains a network of contacts with potential employers and, as the College's network of successful graduates grows, even better employment assistance can be offered by graduate referral and recommendations. All programs at Florida Career College prepare students for entry-level positions and by assisting students with employment, the College attempts to secure them jobs that satisfying and rewarding.
