Brooks Institute has long been committed to a philosophy of "learning by doing", in which students gain the artistic, technical, and business experience necessary to succeed in today's world of visual communications. With a highly respected faculty and three beautiful locations in Santa Barbara, California, Brooks has become a world leader in professional photographic and motion picture education. In an era of global communication, Brooks provides one of the best educations available in photography and filmmaking.
The programs at Brooks Institute are geared toward people who desire a new career in photography, as well as people who are experienced, professional photographers who desire new skills that will help them advance their careers. The reasons students attend Brooks are numerous. Some students have the ability to visualize great pictures in their mind's eye, but don't have the technical skills to translate their creativity to film. Some are novice photographers wishing to elevate their craft to the next level. Some have a strong love of photography or filmmaking and want to change careers. Others are thinking about college and want to get industry-current education.
Many students attending Brooks Institute take advantage of Financial Aid in order to offset the cost of education. Every student needs to have a plan to pay for college and, while some may pay in cash, many others use financial aid in one form or another. Brooks has Financial Aid staff that can help students navigate their way through the financial aid application process. They are committed to helping every student receive the financial aid that they qualify for. The Institute also offers help to its graduates in finding the job of their dreams. The Student Career Services Office develops a working partnership with each Brooks student, helping them with their individual job search efforts and advising them of job leads available through the Office.
Brooks Institute has developed the Brooks Institute Global Network (BIGN), a tool for students that facilitates interaction between the Brooks Institute community, alumni, and friends around the world. BIGN ensures a continuing working relationship between Brooks and its alumni. Participants can explore new technologies, network with their peers, find internships, get technical questions answered, find out what's happening on campus, connect with the Brooks Institute community, share triumphs, discover a new workshop, or post work. For years, the Brooks Institute has educated photographers and filmmakers from around the world.
