The campus of Berks Technical Institute is located in Wyomissing, PA among rolling hills and landscaped grounds. Its 8-acre, 34,000 square foot area contains buildings that are modern, comfortable, and air-conditioned. The campus is only a half block away from public transportation and also offers free student parking. Average enrollment is 700. BTI's labs provide a broad range of equipment comparable to that used in industry today, including two computer labs, twelve PC/Networking labs, a drafting lab, a medical lab, a programming lab, an electronics department, two massage therapy clinics, and a graphic design studio. In addition, they also provide out of the classroom facilities, such as a learning resource center, a cafeteria, and vending and food service areas.
Berks Technical Institute offers a variety of degree and diploma programs, from computer programming to graphic design to massage therapy. It was originally established in 1974 as Lehigh Data Processing Consultants, a technical consulting firm. It later became Lehigh Data Processing Institute and, in January of 1984, was granted accreditation by the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATTS). In 1990 it became known as Berks Technical Institute (BTI)and has expanded its curriculum to include education in some of the fastest growing fields in the U.S. In 2000, BTI became a member of ForeFront Education Inc., a national network of post-secondary schools dedicated to quality career education and student achievement.
Berks Technical Institute is accredited by a variety of accreditation organizations. They are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and College of Technology (ACCSCT), and licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools. The Medical programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educatio Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAMAE). BTI is also an Authorized Academic Provider for Microsoft and a certified center for Comp TIA.
