Baking School

This page offers career resources including articles and related links; a directory of schools providing quick and easy information about their programs, organized by location; and links to related career categories.

Baking schools typically offer a very hands on curriculum as this often the best way to get a feel for the art of baking. Baking school courses will cover topics such as baking equipment, sanitation guidelines, baking formulas including French baking formulas, setting up a product line, how to setup a baking product line and more. All baking courses are taught by trained professional chefs who understand the challenges of preparing great breads, cakes, cookies, and pastries in the real world.

After finishing baking school, you may find yourself working in restaurants, hotels, clubs, or running your own bakery. The work includes directing the activities of staff, including planning the product line, insuring that the right ingredients are available, and preparing the products. Baking schools also train you to manage budgeting, purchasing supplies, hiring staff, and running the kitchen. A career as a baker may be right for you if you have a love of breads, cakes, cookies, and/or pastries, and also enjoy the challenges of planning and preparing them.
