Iridology is the study and analysis of the colors and fiber structures within the eye. Practitioners believe that this can be used as a tool to effectively evaluate a person's overall health picture, and therefore to detect potential health problems. It is not intended to be a method for diagnosing disease.

Properly used, iridology can help a patient understand when to seek assistance in further diagnosis and treatment. The value of this methodology is that a skilled iridologist can potentially detect problems at a much earlier stage then the conventional medical process of waiting for symptoms to appear. This helps patients detect and eliminate problems before they become a full-blown disease.

Iridology training programs provide students with an understanding of the basic techniques for examining the iris, and how to interpret the results. Classes include clinical and lab work with real human test cases.
